Heads of House

Interim Heads of House: Troy and Laura Littleton (2021-2022 Academic Year)

Laura and Troy will serve as Heads of House for the upcoming year while Dave and Claudia are on sabbatical.

Laura grew up in New Orleans and earned her Bachelor’s degree in education at LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After graduation, Laura taught elementary school for 10 years before her son Ryan was born. As a stay at home mom, Laura continued to work in preschool education and serve as a volunteer in various service positions since moving to Massachusetts.

Laura enjoys cooking, crafting, puzzles, binging on her favorite shows and cheering on her hometown New Orleans Saints.

Troy grew up in North Louisiana and met Laura at LSU, where the couple wed after graduation and celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary this year. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from LSU and went to Baylor College of Medicine in Houston in the MSTP program, earning his MD/PhD degree. After postdoctoral training at the Univ. of Wisconsin, Troy joined the MIT faculty in 2000 in the Biology and Brain and Cognitive Sciences Departments and the Picower Institute for Learning and Memory. Troy runs MIT’s Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience (MCN) Graduate Program and serves as a 1st year graduate advisor in the Biology Department. Research in the Littleton lab examines how synaptic connections form and mediate communication between neurons in the brain.

Troy enjoys sports, video games, and poker. He’s also a New England Patriots SuperFan, which can create some marital tension when they play the Saints!

Troy and Laura have one son. Ryan graduated from Champlain College in May 2021 with a Bachelor’s degree in Game Design. Ryan is an avid video game player and programmer, and loves board games, anime and reading. Ryan will be staying with Troy and Laura at the Warehouse until he transitions to a full-time in person game design position.

They also have a geriatric cocker spaniel, Gracie, who was a former frisbee star, but now at 15 enjoys a simpler life of naps, rolling in the grass and lots of attention.
